E-Design: Relaxed Glam Living and Dining Room

After living in her townhouse for almost 8 years, my client was finally ready to give her place a personal touch and make it feel like home. Her busy work schedule and lack of direction made it difficult to know where to start in creating a beautiful and comfortable living space that truly felt like her. My client wanted a cozy transitional space that felt light and airy, with accents of natural materials and wood. For this project I created a shopping list and full room rendering for her living room and dining room.

THE DECOR CONSULTATION

I love when I get to sit down with a client and really get a sense for who they are and how they really live. Carefully listening to my client’s needs and paying close attention to the layout and details of their home is important to me. You’d be amazed at how much you can learn. During our consultation I discovered that what my client thought she wanted wasn’t truly reflective of her style or how she actually lived. With my help, we discovered my client really loves subtle hints of glam not farmhouse, and the pieces that were missing in her living room and dining room areas.

THE DECOR BRIEF

It’s not until we’re shown the possibilities of our home that we realize what we’ve been missing and needed all along. This living and dining room desired a sophisticated look with a relaxing feel. Cozy transitional looks different for every person. For my client it has a touch of sophistication and glam. Rich textures, warm neutrals and brassy finishes are the staples behind this decor project.

Room Decor issues I addressed:

Problems:

1.Only one floor lamp in living room for lighting

2.Living room not functional for date-nights in, and no formal entryway

3.Long and narrow living room with undefined areas

4.Small and outdated light fixture over dining room table

5.Mismatched furniture in dining room area and needs some decluttering

Solutions:

1.Add multiple warm and stylish lighting throughout living and dining room areas

2.Create a cozy and romantic feel in living room with rich textures and area rug

3.Divide living room space into 3 functional areas: entryway, lounging, breakfast/wine bar

4.Simplify dining room by keeping existing table and chairs, add window curtains, indoor plant and chandelier

THE LIVING ROOM RENDERINGS

Before, this living room felt empty and cold. It was a white space with mismatched furniture and no sense of style. This new decor plan and layout gives my client an elevated living space that’s relaxing and inviting. It’s a breath of fresh air!

THE DINING ROOM RENDERINGS

Before, this small dining room area was a catch-all for random things and unused. These 3D renderings showcase a paired back dining space that is simple and refined, perfect for intimate gatherings or dinner for two.
